Train to ply on Khulna-Mongla line from Nov 9

Khulna-Mongla Rail line, a dream of the people of the south-western regions of the country will be finally materialized on 9 November when Sheikh Hasina, the Premier of the country will ceremonially inaugurates it and the bad name of Mongla Sea Port as the only international Sea Port of the world without Railway connection (since its inception in the year of 1950) will go for good.

By this time 99 per cent of the construction works of Khulna-Mongla (in Bagerhat district) Rail line Project was already completed. Hectic preparations are afoot there to complete the rest works.

All the rest works must be completed within the present month and the trail-run of the train may take place on October 30.

Premier Sheikh Hasina will inaugurate ceremonially, the long desired this Khulna-Mongla Sea Port Railway line on November 09 and after the function she will address a mammoth electoral public meeting to be held at Khulna Circuit House field.

It was disclosed by Talukdar Abdil Khalek, City Mayor of Khulna City Corporation.

Ahmed Hossain Masum, Chief Engineer of Khulna-Mongla Port Railway Project told, 99 per cent works of this Project was already completed. Rail lines were installed on 88 kilometers (rail) path out of total 91 kilometer rail path.

Construction works of this Rilway line was started in the month of September in the calendar year of 2016 at a cost of Tk.4 thousand 2 hundred 60 crs.

The construction work of the Rly Bridge over the river Rupsa was started on October in the year of 2017.

He added, in the month of June 25 in the year 2022 when the long desired Padma Bridge was ceremonially inaugurated the 7th and the last span was set on the Rupsa Rly Bridge.

The construction work of 5.13 kilometer long Rupsa Rly Bridge was completed by this time.

The construction work of some 11 Rly stations was also completed. Some 107 small bridges and 9 underpasses were also completed by this time.

The finishing works of the Rail lines at different places are going on.

Signaling and telecommunication works of the Rly are on the way of completion. The allocation for the Project is Tk.4, 260 crs and out of the total fund Tk,2,948 crs was borrowed as loan from India and the rest money Tk,1,312 crs was borne by by Bangladesh Government.
