Member of new Militant outfit held from Kashimpur jail gate

A member of a new banned militant outfit has been detained from the main gate of Kashimpur Central Jail in Gazipur.

The detainee has been identified as Mahtab Islam, 32, son of one Habib Mondol at Koijuri Sreepur village in Atikula Thana of Pabna. Police detained him around 10:45am on Thursday.

He came to visit his wife and brother-in-law in jail.

It is suspected that he is member of newly-floated militant outfit Imam Mahmuder Kafela. Mahtab went there to visit her wife Shapla Khatun and brother-in-law Mohammad Al Mamun, who are in jail and also members of a militant outfit.

Gazipur Metropolitan Police Deputy Commissioner Abu Toraf Shamchur Rahman confirmed the matter and said that detainee has been kept in police custody for questioning. He is being interrogated.
