AL factional feud leaves one death in Mehendiganj

A follower of Pankaj Nath, Awami league (AL) lawmaker of Barishal-4 constituency, was killed by rivals in Alimabad union under Mehendigonj upazila of Barishal district.
The victim Arif Jamaddar is the son of Abdul Jalil Jamaddar of Chardaiyara village of the upazila and died at Sher e Bangla Medical College hospital on Monday night.
Locals of Alimabad union alleged that the killers were followers of the Municipal Mayor AL leader Kamaluddin Khan of the upazila AL faction.
Muhammad Arif, second officer of Mehendiganj police station, said, a grocer named Arif Jamaddar was killed. However, it was not possible to go there due to the inaccessibility of the remote area.
Police have been sent to Barishal Sher E Bangla Medical College Hospital on Tuesday and they learnt that the victim already died, he added.
Jasim Jamodar, former UP member of Alimabad Union Parishad and elder brother of the deceased and follower of local lawmaker, said Arif was killed because the feud over recent union council election was managed by the victim in favour of him.
He also accused rival Kasem Faraji, belongs to AL faction of the upazila supported by Mehendiganj municipal mayor Kamaluddin, for the killing of his brother Arif.
