Jubo League leader shot dead in Jashore

A Jubo League leader was shot dead by miscreants in Manirampur Upazila of Jashore on Monday morning.

The victim has been identified as Uday Shankar (48), son of one of Ranjit Biswas of Panchkori village of the upazila.

He was the president of Nehalpur Union Jubo league of Manirampur Upazila.

According to family members, the victim Uday was a lecturer of Manirampur’s Nehalpur School and College and president of the managing committee of Tekerghat Girls’ School.

Police sources said at the time of the incident the Jubo League leader was returning home from Tekerhat market around 7:30 am.

On the way, a group of terrorists suddenly shot at him and ran away.

Later the villagers rescued him in critical condition and rushed him to Khulna Medical College Hospital where the duty doctors declared him dead.

On information, Manirampur Police Station, Assistant Superintendent of district police Ashek Mahmud and senior officials of the district administration visited the spot. The police could not say anything immediately behind the killing.

Manirampur Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Moniruzzaman said that several police teams have started investigating about the incident.
