Sports Reporter :
Bangladesh Football team will face Maldives Football team in their home match of the FIFA World Cup (WC) qualifier play-off match at Bashundhara Kings Arena in the city today.

The match will start at 5.45pm (Bangladesh Standard Time).

Earlier, Bangladesh drew 1-1 with Maldives in their away match at Male, the capital city of Maldives on October 12.

If Bangladesh win today’s match, Bangladesh will play in the next round of the FIFA World Cup qualifiers.

On the other hand, if Maldives can win over Bangladesh, Maldives will move into the next round of the FIFA World Cup qualifiers.

If today’s ninety-minute match ended in a draw, the game will turn into thirty-minute match. If the thirty-minute match ended in a draw, the fate of the game will be decided in the tie-breaker.

If Bangladesh move into the next round of the FIFA World Cup qualifiers, Bangladesh will be pitted in the Group-I with Australia, Palestine and Lebanon.

The next round will be held home and away basis.

That means Bangladesh will get to play six international matches if they qualify in the next round.

According to the latest FIFA rankings, Bangladesh have taken 189th position, while Maldives have achieved 155th spot.

But now-a-days Bangladesh showed a better brand of Football.

Bangladesh defeated Maldives by 3-1 goals in the SAFF Championship, which concluded recently in Bengaluru of India.

Bangladesh reached the semi-finals of that meet. But Maldives could not take place in the last four.

Most of the Bangladesh booters are young.

Besides, their key players like goalkeeper Anisur Rahman Zico, midfielder Sheikh Morsalin, defender Topu Barman cannot take part in the match, as they are suspended on temporary basis.

On the other hand, Maldives have some experienced players in their squad.

But players of Bangladesh are in a festive mood as they snatched one point from Maldives in their away match.

Besides, Bangladesh will play at their home ground.

So, they will get advantage in their conditions.
