Prof Maksud Kamal new DU VC

Prof Dr ASM Maksud Kamal has been appointed for the time being the 29th Vice-Chancellor of Dhaka University (DU).

President Md Shahabuddin, also chancellor of the university, appointed him, according to a notification of education ministry which was issued on Sunday.

“Following 1973 ordinance of the university, with the order of president and chancellor of the university, Prof Maksud Kamal of Disaster and Climate Resilience Department has been temporarily appointed as the next Vice Chancellor of the DU from November 4 and he will serve as the main executive officer of the university for 24/7-hour,” the notification reads.

Prof Kamal will take the charge of vice-chancellor from November 4 after ending the term of running vice chancellor Prof Md Akhtaruzzaman.
Maksud Kamal has been serving as the Pro-vice Chancellor (academic) of the university since 2020 and has also held academic and administrative responsibilities at almost all levels of the university.

The new Vice Chancellor will receive salary and enjoy other facilities of his current post and will enjoy other facilities as per the rules.
