Campaign against illegal sand mining in Lohagara

The newly appointed Upazila Assistant Commissioner (Land) and Executive Magistrate of Lohagara Nazmun Lail conducted a mass campaign against illegal sand extraction in Lohagara, Chittagong.

In a day, 2 lakh 14 thousand 780 cubic feet of sand was seized in separate raids in Putibila and Chunti Union on Monday.

As a result of the administration’s operation against illegal sand mining, relief has returned among the residents.

Due to the illegal extraction of sand from various canals of Lohagara, agricultural land, roads and culverts have been destroyed.

There is fear of environmental disaster. Due to illegal sand mining, many agricultural lands in Putibila have been abandoned due to lack of water. Hachna Vita Bridge collapsed two years ago.
