China questions role of ‘certain foreign countries’ in Bangladesh

The Chinese Ambassador Yao Wen has criticised the unilateral visa restrictions imposed by the United States on Bangladesh, particularly in light of the US government’s assertion of being a friend to Bangladesh.

“A certain country claims itself to be a friend of Bangladesh. It also talks about human rights, democracy and free and fair elections.

Meanwhile, they have imposed unilateral visa restrictions, and they are even considering potential economic sanctions,” he said on Wednesday.

The Chinese envoy made the remarks on Wednesday in reply to questions from journalists during his visit to Enam Medical Hospital in Savar on the occasion of handing of Dengue test kits.

State Minister for Disaster Management and Relief and also the Chairman of hospital Enamur Rahman was also present.
