Anti-corruption Yes camp in Sylhet

About 300 young people who participated in the anti-corruption YES camp in Sylhet expressed their commitment to build a prosperous, well-governed Bangladesh in the spirit of the liberation war by preventing corruption, poverty, injustice and discrimination.
The three-day anti-corruption YES camp held at a local hotel with the slogan ‘Corruption, Poverty, Injustice: Thoughts of the Youth’ ended on Monday.
Youth Engagement and Support (YES) members of 19 youth anti-corruption voluntary organizations of various districts and upazilas of Sylhet, Mymensingh and Dhaka Divisions formed under the inspiration of Transparency International Bangladesh (TIB) participated in it.
Executive Director of TIB was present as the main speaker at Yes Camp. Executive Director of TIB, Iftekharuzzaman in the discussion entitled “Corruption, Poverty, Injustice: Thoughts of the Youth” urged the youth to take anti-corruption oath in their hearts and said that corruption is the main obstacle to development, corruption creates inequality, deprives women of rights, increases poverty and injustice.
He also said that due to corruption, the institutions of the state are weakened, especially the justice system is broken and ineffective and incidents like Rana Plaza happen.
