Int’l Day of Older Persons observed

Bangladesh Praveen Hitaishi Sangh, Lalmonirhat District Unit organised a rally, discussion meeting and distribution of wheel chairs among the disabled with the cooperation of District Administration, municipality and local voluntary organizations to observe the the International Day of Older Persons on Sunday.
Mohammad Ullah , DC was the Chief Guest in the discussion meeting held under the chairmanship of Yunus Hossain, District President of Praveen Hitaishi Sangh. Municipal Mayor Rezaul Karim Swapan and Captain (Retd) Azizul Haque Bir Prateek were the special guests.
General Secretary Nirmal Kumar Barman, District Social Service Officer Sukant Sarkar, Heroic Freedom Fighter Guerrilla Leader SM Shafiqul Islam spoke.
At the end of the discussion, donation checks of Tk 20,000 were distributed among 21 NGOs representatives.
Sr.Staff Reporter from Kishoreganj says: The International Day of Older Persons was observed in the country on Sunday like elsewhere across the globe with the theme ‘Fulfilling the Promises of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights for Older Persons: Across Generations’.
Marking the day, District Administration including Department of Social services (DSSl arranged a rally, discussion. A discussion meeting held at Collectorate Confidence Room on Sunday.

Medicine Consutant dr.Mohiuddin Ahamed, Senior Medical Officer Dr. Mahabubur Rahman, Retired Principle Mahabubur Rahman, Senior physician dr. Md. Israil., Advocate Abdur Rashid, Freedom Fighter Nizamuddin, Firozeuddin Bhuiyan and ADC (General) Rubel Mahamud. Abul Kalam Azad, DC said that the development of the country is accelerated through the combination of the enthusiasm of the youth and the experience of the senior citizens, contribution of elders in the progress of civilization is undeniable Baraigram (Natore) Correspondent adds: The International Day of Elder Persons was observed in Baraigram Upazila .
Rally and discussion meeting were held on Sunday as a joint initiative of Upazila Administration and Social Services Department.
The meeting was held under the chairmanship of UNO Md. Abu Rasel and moderated by Upazila Women’s Affairs Officer Mst Habiba Khatun.
The Chief Guest was Member of Parliament (MP) for Natore-4 (Baraigram-Gurdaspur) Constituency Alhaj Dr. Md. Siddiqur Rahman Patwari and special guests were Bonpara Municipal Mayor K.M. Zakir Hossain, Upazila Agriculture Officer Sharmin Sultana, Upazila Animal Resources Officer Md. Amir Hamza,Awami League leader Anwar Hossain Dulal,Birmuktijoddha Abul Khair and others spoke there.
