Drop out children of char area getting education in Kurigram

A total of 16 Rivers are flowing in Kurigram district including the Teesta, Dharla, Brahmaputra, Dudkumer and Zinzeram with more than 400 char and island char there.
The children of char areas are neglected. Many of them have to go a long distance to attend school on foot and in the rainy season by boat.
A good number of students drop out and girls are become the victims of child marriage. Most of the people of the char are poor and ultra-poor.
They have to fight with natural calamity including drought, flood, tornado, River erosion etc.
Boat and raft are the only communication media of the char people to travel from one place to another in the rainy season as well as in flood.
The char people are being deprived of modern facilities like communication, education, sanitation and electricity.
In spite of eagerness of their guardians they have no ability to admit their sons and daughters in a good school in town. Consequently, they remain as uneducated.
The girls become the victims of child marriage and gave birth in immature stage and sometimes they die due to lack of malnutrition and better treatment as they depend on quack.
Fander Char, a char near the Dudkumari River and its tributary Fulkumar of char Purbo Damalgram under Rayganj union of Nageswari upazila in Kurigram district where there is no light of education.
The couple Shahidul and Shapla are spraying the light of education among the boys and girls setting up a temporary school there.
The educated couple in the char Shahidul Islam and Shapla Akhtar Shopna. Shahidul has completed masters with honors from Tangail Korotea Sadat University College in political science and his wife Shapla is a student of honors in political science in Kurigram Government College.
They come ahead for spray light of education among the dropped out boys and girls.
At first he started his education activities in an abandoned room with 3-4 students on 22 August 2022.He named after the school as “Fander char non-government Primary Education Center”.
The number of students have been increased slow but steady due to proper care.
Later the name of the education center has been changed as “Shaplar Pathshala”.
More than one hundred students both male and female aged 05-14 years are reading regularly in the school at present.
The Corrugated Iron (C.I) shed room is the only class room length forty feet only.
Although there are two doors but no window of that room.
The school became the victims of River erosion was shifted to Purbo Fander char from Purbo Fander char two months back.
Polythene, mat, old shirts are setting on the flood of the room where the education activities are going on.
The students learn their lesson sitting in three rows in the room. Shahidul and his wife perform the duty as teacher one step another.
The education activities is going on according to primary education curriculum.
Regular presence, hoisting of National Flag, singing of National Anthem regularly, teaching well behavior, Rules, regulation, discipline, sports etc. are also going on there as per rule.
