BNP in peril as its movement failed: AL

Staff Reporter :
BNP’s political fate hangs in the balance as the credibility of its ultimatums and protests are proved as ‘fake’. The BNP has been terming the current government illegitimate, but they are seeking permission to this administration for the medical treatment of their leader.

Awami League (AL) General Secretary, also the Minister for Road Transport and Bridges, Obaidul Quader came with the remarks while addressing a gathering organised by the Krishok League at the southern entrance of Baitul Mukarram National Mosque in the city on Saturday.

He delivered a stern message to the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) and said the political fate of the party hangs in the balance, predicting a gloomy outlook for the opposition party.

The event featured Quader as the chief guest, and his statements were predominantly directed at the BNP.

He began by addressing allegations made by the BNP, asserting that the current government is illegitimate.

Quader firmly stated that if the BNP desires to convene meetings or rallies, they must first seek formal permission from the government.

He cautioned that failure to do so might result in the curtailment of their activities, ultimately forcing them to disperse.

Quader went on to raise an important question about the BNP’s repeated appeals for the government to facilitate the medical treatment of Khaleda Zia abroad.

He underscored the government’s consistent refusals to entertain such requests.

BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia has been undergoing medical treatment at a private hospital in the capital for over a month, and despite numerous requests from the opposition party for her treatment abroad, the government has remained steadfast in its refusal.
