New DMP commissioner takes charge

Additional Inspector General of Police Habibur Rahman took over the charge of new commissioner of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police at a function at the DMP headquarters on Saturday.

He replaced outgoing Commissioner Khandaker Gulam Faruq.

According to DMP media wing, Khandker Golam Faruq was awarded a farewell reception at the same time.

Habibur’s appointment came into effect earlier on 20 September in a notification issued by the Public Security Department of the Ministry of Home Affairs.

A BCS 17th batch police officer, Habibur Rahman previously served as DC of the DMP headquarters, SP of Dhaka district, DIG of Dhaka range and police headquarters.

Habibur Rahman was born in 1967 in Gopalganj.
