Freelancers exempt from income tax: Minister

State Minister for Information and Communication Technology Zunaid Ahmed Palak has said that freelancers will not have to pay tax at source on remittances received for services and revenue sharing.

“The freelancing sector will be free from all income tax,” he said while speaking at an event in Dhaka on Saturday, reports media.

The state minister said: “A section of people are spreading propaganda to mislead freelancers.

They are even indulging in propaganda about Bangladesh Bank, NBR and me.”

He said: “After consulting with Bangladesh Bank and NBR, I have confirmed that freelancers will not be subject to income tax.

They will be exempted.

Additionally, freelancers receive a 4% incentive when remitting funds to the country.”
