BD lose to Kiwis in 2nd ODI

Bangladesh Cricket team lost to New Zealand Cricket team by 86 runs in the second One Day International (ODI) match at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in the city’s Mirpur on Saturday.
Electing to bat first, the Kiwis piled up a fighting total of 254 for the loss of nine wickets in the allotted 50 overs.
In reply, Bangladesh were all out for 168 off 41.1 overs.
Bangladesh had a sorrow start as opener Litton Das (6) was dismissed by Kyle Jamieson when Bangladesh’s score was 19 for the loss of one wicket.
Opener Tamim Iqbal and Mahmudullah Riyad fought back against the superb bowling attack of New Zealand.
Tamim Iqbal hit a polished 44. He hit seven fours in his 58 ball innings.
Mahmudullah Riyad notched up a marvelous 49. His 76-ball innings was ornamented with four fours and a sixer.
Tamim Iqbal and Mahmudullah Riyad proved that they have the ability to present a better brand of cricket on their return to ODI batting after a long gap.
Spinner Ish Sodhi was the day’s most successful bowler. He captured six wickets giving 39 runs.
Kyle Jamieson bagged two wickets instead of 32 runs.
Besides, Lockie Ferguson and Cole McConchie took one wicket apiece.
Earlier, Mahedi Hasan and Khaled Ahmed grabbed three wickets each instead of 45 and 60 runs respectively.
Mustafizur Rahman bagged two wickets in the space of 53 runs.
Besides, Nasum Ahmed and Hasan Mahmud took one wicket each for 44 and 46 runs respectively.
Second-down Henry Nicholls and third-down Tom Blundell built the most worthy partnership adding together 95 runs in the fourth wicket stand before Nicholls was caught behind by Litton Das off debutante Khaled Ahmed when the Kiwis total was 131 for the loss of four wickets.
