Dengue death toll climbs to 875

Dengue claimed more eight deaths in the 24 hours till Thursday morning, raising the number of fatalities from the vector-borne disease in the country to 875 this year, the Directorate General of the Health Services (DGHS) said.
A DGHS press release said, 2,889 more patients were hospitalised with the viral fever during the period.
Among the fresh patients, 789 were admitted to hospitals in Dhaka and the rest outside the capital, indicating a worsening situation across the country.
The DGHS data showed, a total of 10,280 dengue patients, including 3,696 in the capital, are now receiving treatment at hospitals across the country.
The DGHS has recorded 179,699 dengue cases so far and 168,544 recoveries this year.
The dengue cases surged across the country in recent months.
Our Staff Reporter, from Kishoreganj said, at least 103 dengue patients at present are under treatment in 7 hospitals of the district.
Among them, 67 in Shaheed Syed Nazrul Islam Medical College Hospital, (SSNIMCH) , 22 in Kishoreganj 250 Bed General Hospital, 5 in Bajitpur Upazila Health Complex, 2 in Bhairab, 5 in Karimganj, 2 in Pakundia , and 1 in katiadi upazila health centre.
Local civil surgeon (CS) office sources said this on Wednesday afternoon. According to the information, 24 people were newly infected with dengue in the last 24 hours and 11 people were discharged at the same time.
Later, since January this year, the number of dengue patients in the district is 1 thousand 498 and clearance has been given to 1 thousand 409 people at the same time.
Civil Surgeon (CS) in Kishoreganj Dr.Saoful Islam said that nobody died of dengue in the district till date.
