BNPs Bhairab-Sylhet rally draws huge crowd

BNP Standing Committee Member Goyeshwar Chandra Roy on Thursday said that no one could save the Awami League government as the youths of the country have awakened against its ‘misrule’.
“The do or die movement has been started. There is no way to stop our agitation before resignation of this autocratic government,” the senior BNP leader said while addressing the party’s road march from Bhairab towards Sylhet to press home its one-point demand for the resignation of this AL regime and holding the next polls under a neutral government.
The 160-km long road march began at 11:20 am after its inauguration at Bhairav Bus Stand.
BNP Assistant-Organising Secretary and Kishoreganj district BNP President Shariful Alam presided over the opening rally.
Party’s Standing Committee Members Goyeshwar Chandra Roy and Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury, BNP Vice-Chairman Dr. A Z M Zahid Hossain, Advisor to Chairperson Fazlur Rahman, Joint-Secretary Generals Khairul Kabir Khokon, Habib-un Nabi Khan Sohel, Organising Secretary Emran Saleh Prince, Juba Dal President Sultan Salahuddin Tuku, Swechchasebak Dal President SM Jilani, Chhatra Dal Acting President Rashed Iqbal Khan and others spoke at the rally.
Meanwhile, before the road march started, the Bhairab bus stand area became over-crowded.
Leaders and activists overflowed in that area. A large number of activists participated in the road march with buses, trucks, microbuses, motorcycles.
After the start of the road march, it crossed Bhairav Bridge, Ashuganj and proceeded towards Sylhet.
There were three street meetings at Bishwa Road Junction in Brahmanbaria, Shaistaganj Junction in Habiganj and Sherpur in Moulvibazar on the way of the road march.
The concluding assembly held on Alia Madrasa ground in Sylhet. Local leaders of Sylhet BNP along with central leaders spoke on the occasion.
Meanwhile, the party leaders alleged that the ruling party men tried to block the way to harm the programme by keeping different vehicle on the roads.
