Tigers-Kiwis 1st ODI match abandoned

The first One Day International (ODI) match between Bangladesh Cricket team and New Zealand Cricket team was abandoned due to rain at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in the city’s Mirpur on Thursday.

Sent into bat first, The Kiwis scored 136 for the loss of five wickets in 33.4 overs before the rain washed out the game.

New Zealand had a poor start opener Finn Allen (9) was caught behind by wicketkeeper Nurul Hasan off Mustafizur Rahman when New Zealand’s score was 14.

Mustafizur Rahman struck as one-down Chad Bowes (1) was caught behind by Nurul Hasan off the left-hand bowler when New Zealand’s total was 16 for the loss of two wickets.

Opener Will Young and second-down Henry Nicholls repaired the damage adding together 97 runs for the third wicket partnership before Nicholls was trapped leg before wicket by Mustafizur Rahman when New Zealand’s score was 113 for the loss of three wickets.

Nicholls made 44 from 57 deliveries including three fours.

Nasum Ahmed struck as opener Will Young was stumped out by Nurul Hasan off the spinner when the Kiwis total was 123 for the loss of four wickets.

Will hit a sedate 58 using 91 deliveries with four fours and a sixer.

Nasum struck again as Rachin Ravindra (0) was trapped leg before wicket by the spinner when the tourists’ score was 123 for the loss of five wickets.

Tom Blundell remained undefeated with eight runs, while Cole McConche remained unbeaten with eight runs.

Mustafizur Rahman grabbed three wickets in the space of 27 runs, while Nasum Ahmed captured two wickets instead 21 runs.
