Asia Cup: Bangladesh score 180/5 off 41 overs

Bangladesh scored 180 for the loss of five wickets in 41 overs against Sri Lanka in their ‘ Super Four’ match of the Asia Cup at Ranasinghe Premadasa Stadium in Colombo, the capital city of Sri Lanka on Saturday, till filing this report.
Towhid Hridoy remained unbeaten with 68 runs.
Earlier, Sri Lanka piled up a fighting total of 257 for the loss of nine in the allotted 50 overs.
Bangladesh had a good start with the two openers Mehidy Hasan Miraz and Mohammad Naim put on together 55 runs before Mehidy Hasan Miraz (28) was caught at the midwicket by substitute MADI Hemantha off Dasun Shanaka.
Mohammad Naim (21) was caught behind by wicketkeeper Kusal Mendis off Shanaka when the tourists’ total was 60 for the loss of two wickets.
One-down Shakib Hasan (3) was caught behind by Mendis off Matheesha Pathirana when Bangladesh’s score was 70 for the loss of three wickets.
Litton Das (15) was caught behind by Mendis off Dunith Wellalege when the visitors score was 83 for the loss of four wickets. After Littons departure, Mushfiqur Rahim and Towhid Hridoy built a respectable partnership contributing together 72 runs in the five-wicket stand before Mushfiqur Rahim was caught at the mid-off by Kasun Rajitha off Shanaka when the Tigers’ total was 155 for the loss of five wickets.
Mushfiqur Rahim made 29 from 48 balls.
Sri Lanka had a modest start as opener Dimuth Karunaratne (18) was caught behind by wicketkeeper Mushfiqur Rahim off pacer Hasan Mahmud when Sri Lanka’s score was 34 for the loss of one wicket.
Opener Pathum Nissanka and one-down Kusal Mendis mended their innings scoring together 74 runs in the second wicket partnership before Nissanka (40) was trapped leg before wicket by Shoriful Islam when the hosts’ total was 108 for the loss of two wickets.
Shoriful struck again as Kusal Mendis was caught at the third man by Taskin Ahmed off the left-arm pacer when the home side’s score was 117 for the loss of three wickets.
Kusal hit 50 using 73 deliveries including six fours and a sixer. Charith Asalanka (10) was caught by Shakib Al Hasan off Taskin Ahmed when Sri Lanka’s total was 144 for the loss of four wickets.
Sadeera Samarawickrama and Dasun Shanaka built another notable partnership putting together 60 runs in the six-wicket stand before Shanaka (24) was bowled out by Hasan Mahmud when Sri Lanka’s total was 224 for the loss of six wickets.
Sadeera notched up a splendid 93.
He hit eight fours and two sixes in his 72-ball innings before he was dismissed by Taskin Ahmed when Sri Lanka’s innings was concluded.
Hasan Mahmud and Taskin Ahmed grabbed three wickets each instead of 57 and 62 runs respectively, while Shoriful got two wickets for 48 runs.
