Theft in Rampal Power Plant

Some 4 thieves were arrested along with more than 90 kgs copper cables stolen from Bangladesh-India Friendship Thermo Power Plant at Rampal under Rampal Upazila in Bagerhat district in the early Wednesday by the police of Rampal PS, according to a report received here.
The arrested thieves are Md. Lyton Hawladar alias Zakir (40), son of one Selim Hawladar of village Sreefaltala under Rampal Upazila, Md. Shohag Shaikh (23), son of one Bazlu Shaikh of village Kalekhar-Ber, Md. Nakib Shaikh (23), son of one Mozam Shaikh of village Kalika-Prosad and Khanjahan Molla (28) son of one Malek Molla of village Borni under the same Upazila.
S M Ashraful Alam, Officer-in-charge of Rampal PS told, acting on secret information that huge quantities of copper coils will be smuggled out from the interior of the Power Plant in the early hours of Wednesday a police squad of the PS conducted a raid at the western side of the labour colony in the interior of the Power Plant and arrested 4 members of a gang of thieves along with more than 90 kgs copper coils worth Tk.71 thousand.
The arrested thieves were sent to the Jail hajat at Bagerhat through the court on the same day after lodging a theft case with the PS against the arrested thieves.
