Abducted DU student rescued after 5 hours

Dhaka University (DU) student Deepika Chakma, who was abducted on her way to Sajek in Rangamati, returned to her family after five hours.She was handed over to his family around 5:30 pm on Wednesday (September 6).

Maksudur Rahman, Proctor of Dhaka University, confirmed this information to the media.

He said, one of our students was kidnapped. she was rescued by law and order forces in the evening and handed over to his family.

In this regard, Mir Abu Touhid, superintendent of Police in Rangamati, told the media that a team from Sajek police station conducted a drive and rescued the student, Dipita Chakma, from Daripara Bonoadam area around 7:00pm on Wednesday (6 September).

He said further legal procedure was ongoing.

Earlier in the day, Deepika, a student of masters in the Department of Public Administration of DU, was travelling to Sajek with her friends from Khagrachhari.

According to police, a group of unidentified armed miscreants intercepted their vehicle in Shijokchara area around 12:00pm on Wednesday.
