DU teachers protests against interference in country’s judicial system
DU Correspondent :
The Dhaka University Teachers Association (DUTA) staged a human chain protesting against an open letter sent by over 160 global leaders demanding that is an interference in the country’s judicial system.
The DUTA staged the demonstration on Monday in front of Aparajeyo Bangla of the university and expressed concern also saying that the global leaders’ demands are entirely baseless and an interference in the country’s judicial system.
Moreover, over 160 global leaders have recently sent a letter requested to suspend the sub-judice cases against Prof Muhammad Yunus to Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
“In every society there are some people who are devoid of ethics. Many times they fall under various temptations and take a stand for injustice.
These 160 people who have given statements about a matter under trial are unethical people,” DU Vice Chancellor said at the human chain.
“I think they are working as lobbyists. They may have been hired by a group, a political party or community or an individual in exchange for money.
That may be why they have taken a stand for corruption and injustice today. But they could not do this in their own country,” he added.
DU Pro-vice Chancellor (Administration) Professor Muhammad Samad, Pro-vice Chancellor (Academic) Prof AKM Maksud Kamal, DUTA President Prof Dr Nizamul Haque Bhuiyan, General Secretary Prof Dr Zeenat Huda and among others were also presented at the human chain.
