RNPP holds nuclear emergency response drill

A stakeholder workshop and tabletop emergency response exercise were held at the Rooppur Nuclear Power Plant (RNPP) to strengthen the preparedness, coordination and response capabilities of relevant national and local agencies in dealing with potential nuclear and radiological emergencies.

The workshop and exercise were organised by Nuclear Power Plant Company Bangladesh Limited (NPCBL) at PD House in Green City, Ishwardi on Saturday. Representatives from the district administrations and police administrations of Pabna and Kushtia, health departments, Fire Service and Civil Defence, local elected representatives, the Bangladesh Atomic Energy Regulatory Authority (BAERA), Rooppur project officials and other stakeholders participated in the programme.

Dr Syeda Naushin Parnini, Additional Secretary (PA) of the Ministry of Science and Technology, attended the event as the chief guest.
