Stocks down over selling pressure

Indices of both stock exchanges declined on Monday (4 September) as investors sold off their holdings to book quick gains from selective shares.
Although the session started with a positive trend, after the first hour, indices dipped until the end of the day as investors put pressure on selling.
On the day, the benchmark index DSEX of the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) lost 3 points to close at 6,307, and the Chittagong Stock Exchange all share price index CASPI declined 18 points to 18,644.
During the session, only 58 scrips advanced, where 102 declined, and 164 were unchanged at the DSE.
Besides, the turnover value of the DSE also plunged by 5% to Tk577 crore compared to the previous session.
Fu-Wang Food was the top traded share on Monday, with a turnover value of Tk65 crore, followed by Eastern Housing and Gemini Sea Food at the DSE.
Miracle Industries was the top gainer, whereas Simtex Industries had the worst shares on the day.
