AL blasts BNP for siding with Dr. Yunus
Staff Reporter :
Professor Dr. Muhammad Yunus has spent two million dollars to get the statement from 160 global leaders on his behalf while the BNP has started a ‘new game’ centering Muhammad Yunus as their movement against the government already failed.
Awami League (AL) General Secretary, also Minister of Road Transport and Bridges Obaidul Quader claimed this on Wednesday and raised a question about the huge money that Prof Yunus has amassed.
The AL general secretary raised the issue while addressing a discussion meeting on the premises of Secretariat Clinic in the city.
Bangladesh Secretariat Officers Employees Unity Parishad and Bangladesh Secretariat Bhumukhi Cooperative Society jointly organized the discussion to mark the 48th martyrdom anniversary of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
Comingdown heavily on the BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, the AL general secretary said, “He (Fakhrul) had gone to Singapore for treatment. He termed Yunus as the best son of the nation sitting there.
But Prof Yunus did not express any condolence after the killing of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, even he did not utter a single word after killing the four national leaders.”
Obaidul Quader said, “Dr. Yunus ever went to Shaheed Minar? Ever been to the national mausoleum? Have you ever seen him in the flood affected areas of the country? Did he say anything during the corona pandemic? He did never say anything regarding the issues.
If the soil of country flooded with blood-he does not speak.
Why Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir crying so much for Yunus as the person had no sympathy of the people of Bangladesh. Why so much pain?”
Criticising BNP Secretary General, Obaidul Quader said, “Mirza Fakhrul Sahib, the movement does not geared up. So, you started new game again centering Yunus, who is associated with one-eleven plot.
Global leaders have also requested for stopping the case against Yunus. Even they again spoke about free and fair elections in the statement.
This is nothing but a conspiracy to foil the election.
We will not allow this evil game to be played on the soil of Bangladesh.”
Sheikh Hasina could not be removed by agitation, the AL General Secretary said.
Dr. Yunus never keeps the news of Bangladesh, he said adding that nobody knows when he comes to the country or when he leaves.
So why should we side with him? Will anyone be above the law if they embezzle workers’ money?,” he added.
Among others, Local Government Minister Tajul Islam, Local Government Rural Development and Cooperatives State Minister Swapan Bhattacharya, Civil Aviation and Tourism State Minister Mahbub Hossain, Cultural Affairs State Minister KM Khalid also spoke at the meeting.
