Asia Cup Cricket 2023: BD take on Lanka today

Bangladesh Cricket team will take on Sri Lanka today in their first Group-B match of the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) Asia Cup at Pallekele International Cricket Stadium in Sri Lanka.
The match will start at 3.30pm (Bangladesh Standard Time).
Private satellite sports channels of Bangladesh-T Sports and GTV- and international sports satellite channel Star Sports will telecast live the match.
Before today’s match, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka faced each other on 51 occasions.
Of them, Bangladesh won nine games, while Sri Lanka registered 40 victories and rest of the two matches ended without any result.
Besides, The Tigers played 15 matches against Sri Lanka in Asia Cup.
Of them, Bangladesh recorded three victories, while Sri Lanka won 12 matches.
Bangladesh will play against Sri Lanka without their two regular openers.
Dashing opener Tamim Iqbal could not take part in the Asia Cup as he was not totally fit.
On the other hand, prolific opener Litton Das has been ruled out from the Asia Cup as he has been suffering from fever for some days.
Captain of Bangladesh ODI Cricket team Shakib Al Hasan said, ” I don’t want to win after depending on only one department.
I think every department can do well.
The pacers attack, the spinners attack, the batters can shine with the willow, the fielders can show satisfactory performance.”
Shakib wants to win against Sri Lanka after showing a superb performance in every departments.
Shakib said, ” If we shine in the every departments in tomorrow’s match, we have a good chance to win the game.
We shall try to do that and we shall try to show all-round performance.”
Shakib doesn’t underestimate his Sri Lankan opponents.
He said, ” We are in a better position than them as we have experienced side than that of Sri Lanka.
But the players of Sri Lanka played in their conditions in Lanka Premier League (LPL) recently.
The cricketers, who performed well in LPL, have been included in the Sri Lanka squad.
They are eager to win the tomorrow’s match.”
The experienced skipper said, ” The strength of the two teams are almost same.
So, it will be anybody’s game.
The players, who perform well, will win the match.
Each team have equal chance to win the tomorrow’s match”
