Father, son held for killing rival

The unit-8 of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB-8) arrested the main accused father and son in the case filed in connection with the killing of Raihan Sardar (32) in Muladi upazila of Barishal district.
On Monday (August 28) in the afternoon, Lt. Colonel Mahmudul Hasan , commander of RAB-8 confirmed the matter in a press conference organized at the headquarters of RAB-8 in Rupatali area of Barishal city.
The two arrestees were Karim Sardar (50) and his son Yasin Sardar (19), residents of North Charpadma village under Muladi upazila of Barishal.
Lt. Colonel Mahmudul Hasan said Raihan Sardar, son of Rahim Sardar was killed due to past enmity and land dispute in Machua Khali (North Charpadma) area of Safipur Union under Muladi upazila on August 15.
After this incident, the deceased’s mother, Suryabanu Begum lodged a murder case on August 17 accusing three by name including Karim Sardar and his son Yasin Sardar and wife Safia Begum.
According to the case document, due to previous enmity over land dispute, the accused chopped Raihan Sardar and his brother Imran Sardar on the afternoon of August 15.
Raihan died on the spot and Imran was taken to nearby Gosairhat Upazila Health Complex and later admitted to Shariatpur District Sadar Hospital.
