BGMEA urges Kurdi importers to buy BD apparels

The Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA) President Faruque Hassan urged the Kurdistan buyers to source apparels from Bangladesh.
On visiting BGMEA delegation led by Faruque Hassan met different ministers of Iraq government and the leaders of various commercial bodies and authorities.
The BGMEA delegation met Dr Mohammed Shukri, Chairman of Board of Investment of Kurdistan Regional Government in Erbil of Iraq, Safeen Dizayee, Minister of Department of Foreign Relations of it, and Dr Dara Jaleel Al-Khayat, President of Erbil Chambers of Commerce and Industry, and also President of Kurdistan Federation Chambers of Commerce and Industry on Saturday.
During the meetings, they discussed available trade and investment opportunities between Bangladesh and Iraq and means to tap in the potential.
Highlighting the trade prospects of Bangladesh-Iraq, BGMEA President Faruque Hassan underscored the need for intensifying communication between businessmen of both countries.
He requested the Minister to make visa and consular services for Bangladeshi businessmen to facilitate their travel to Iraq and also for steps to initiate direct flights between Bangladesh and Iraq to facilitate bilateral trade
They also talked about how both sides collaborate in bringing businesses of countries closer to enable them to explore trade and investment possibilities.
Underscoring the need for arranging exchanges of business delegations between the two countries, the BGMEA president said, “It would play an important role in achieving trade and investment potential.”
He invited the Kurdistan businessmen to Bangladesh to explore investment opportunities and urged them to import more Bangladeshi products including garments, pharmaceuticals, jute and leather goods. Giant Group Director Sharmeen Hassan Tithi, Managing Director of Bangla Poshak Ltd Mohammed Shohel, Director of Bangla Poshak Ltd Mohd Shawket Hossain and Managing Director of Banika Fashion Ltd Nisher Khan, among others, accompanied the BGMEA president.
H E Fazlul Bari, Ambassador of Bangladesh to Iraq and Dr Ahmed Jalal, President of Kurdistan-Bangladesh Business Council were also present at the meeting.
