Homage paid to Bangabandhu

Mayor of Sylhet City Corporation (SCC) Anwaruzzaman Chowdhury on Friday paid rich tributes to Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman by placing a wreath at his mausoleum at Tungipara in Gopalganj.

After laying the wreath, the mayor stood in solemn silence for some time as a mark of profound respect to the memory of the architect of Bangladesh’s independence, reports BSS.

Sylhet Metropolitan Awami League President Bir Muktijoddha Masiuddin Ahmed, Sylhet District Awami League President Alhaj Shafiqur Rahman Chowdhury, its General Secretary Nasir Uddin Khan, Tungipara Municipality Mayor Sheikh Tozammel Haque Tutul, London Chhatra League General Secretary Sajeeb Bhuiyan and a large number of Awami League leaders and activists, among others, were present.

A special doa was offered seeking eternal peace of Bangabandhu and other martyrs of the August 15, 1975 carnage as well as martyrs of the War of Liberation.

A special prayer was also offered for longevity of the Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and her family members.
