Out of which the movie ‘Halda,’ directed by Tauquir Ahmed from Bangladesh, willbe screened today (Friday) at 2:30pm.

Tauquir Ahmed and High Commissioner of Bangladesh in Sri Lanka Tareq Md Ariful Islam will join the audience online.

Tauquir Ahmed is very excited because his movie will be shown in such a prestigious show.

It is noted that ‘Halda’ movie won National Film Awards in five categories.

Zahid Hasan got the National Film Award as the Best Screenwriter, Storyteller and Best Actor, Nusrat Imrose Tisha as the Best Actress, and Runa Khan as the Best Supporting Actress for this movie.

Meanwhile, the new stage play ‘Tirthojatri,’ directed by Tauquir Ahmed, will be screened tomorrow at the Madison Theatre in the Long Island, USA, based on the original story of Humayun Kabir.

While talking about the screening of ‘Halda’ movie in Colombo and the stage of theatre play ‘Tirthojatri’ in USA tomorrow, Tauquir Ahmed told this correspondent from USA over mobile phone on Thursday, “My movie ‘Halda’ is going to be screened in the Bangladeshi movies along with the movies of six other countries of the world on the Cultural Day in Colombo, Sri Lanka.

It is undoubtedly a matter of great honour for me. In SAARC Film Festival in 2018, ‘Halda’ was awarded in four categories including Best Film.

And regarding the play ‘Tirthojatri’, I want to say that the fact that a play is staged in two parts of the world at the same time has thrilled me. The theatre workers of the two groups have built two different productions with their talent, passion and labour, Bengali Culture Centre, New York, and Nattokendro, Bangladesh – this has made the difficult task possible.

You see our worth. Everyone is invited to watch ‘Halda’ in Colombo, as well as the invitation to watch the play ‘Tirthojatri’ in America.”

Tauquir Ahmed informed that he is coming to Bangladesh again next month.
