Kean Bridge renovation work starts in Sylhet

After several days’ delays, the renovation work of Sylhet’s traditional Kean Bridge is finally starting.
The authorities stopped all traffic through this bridge from Wednesday morning.
Allegedly, due to lack of coordination between the Directorate of Roads and Highway (RHD) and Bangladesh Railways, the renovation of the bridge has been delayed several times in the past.
Although the work was supposed to start, it did not.
Traffic was also stopped at several points; It started again after a day.
In this regard, Railway Bridge Division Executive Engineer (Eastern Zone) Jeeshan Dutta said that all their preparations have been completed.
Materials are being taken to the Queen Bridge area for renovation work.
He expects the work to begin within a few weeks. A traffic stop notice has also been issued.
Traffic will be closed for two months from August 16 to October 15.
Although the bridge is under the control of the Roads and Highways Department, it will be renovated by the Bridge Department of the Railways.
The engineering department of Sylhet City Corporation looks after the bridge.
