Ayub Bachchu’s 61st birth anniversary observed

Yesterday was the 61st anniversary of the birth of Bangla rock music pioneer and legendary band artiste Ayub Bachchu.
Born in Chattogram in 1962, Bachchu recorded 28 albums, including 16 solo albums during his music career that spanned
over more than four decades.
Ayub Bachchu was drawn to music at an early age.
He founded his first band named Spider at the age of 14.
He joined Feelings in 1978.
The band went on to become a major band in Bangladesh.
He left the band only after two years, and joined Souls as its lead guitarist in 1980 where he played for ten years.
He founded LRB in 1991.
The LRB was admired for its taste for experimentation, with its first album being released in the double-disc record.
The album was a runaway success with many of its rock numbers becoming so popular that they were still on the top of the popular band songs chart for a long time.
The band released its last album titled ‘Juddho’ under the leadership of Bachchu in 2012.
Ayub Bachchu also owned a music studio named AB Kitchen at Moghbazar in Dhaka.
His first solo album titled ‘Rokto Golap’ was released in 1986.
His second solo album ‘Moyna’ was released in 1988, and the third solo titled ‘Koshto’ was released in 1995.
Besides, he released an instrumental album titled ‘Sound of Silence’ in 2007.
Bachchu’s last solo album ‘Jiboner Golpo’ was released in 2015.
He composed 500 songs, including famous numbers like ‘Cholo Bodle Jai’, ‘Rupali Guitar’, ‘Haste Dekho’, ‘Ekhon Anek Raat’, ‘Ghum Bhanga Shohore’, ‘Dorojar Opashe’, ‘Madhobi’, ‘Hawker’, ‘Meye’, ‘Tara Bhora Raate’, ‘Saare Tinhat Mati’ and many more, and lent his voice to playbacks for movies.
Ayub Bachchu passed away on October 18 in 2018.
