Farjana Bubli wants AL nomination for Gaibandha-5

Farjana Rabbi Bubli, daughter of former Deputy Speaker Fazle Rabbi Miah, wants to finish the unfinished works of his father for the Gaibandha-5 Constituency.
However, she could not secure Awami League’s nomination in the latest by-election to the constituency, as it was given to former Chhatra League President Mahmud Hasan Ripon.
Yet she did not give up. She wants to fight in this constituency (Phulchhari-Saghata) for the party in the upcoming 12th parliamentary election.
Mahmud Hasan Ripon won easily in the latest by-election held on January 4 in 2023.
The constituency fell vacant due to the death of Fazle Rabbi Miah. However, the equation will not be so easy for Ripon to win in this seat in the next parliamentary election (twelfth election), as because the situation says that the upcoming twelfth election will not be one-sided like the last two national elections or the latest by-elections.
In that case, securing the party nomination alone does not guarantee winning the parliamentary election in this seat. In such a situation, Awami League should nominate a leader who has a relationship with the grassroots people there.
Farjana Rabbi Bubli is considered that person as she and her family members have a long-standing connection with the local people.
Nasirul Alam Swapan, Secretary of Saghata upazila Awami League, said, “Former Deputy Speaker Advocate Fazle Rabbi Miah had a huge popularity in the politics of this area for a long time.
Along with her own activities, Farzana Rabbi Bubli has retained that popularity through inheritance.
We supported Ripon in the last by-election as because we had no way but to accept the decision of the party chief. But the fact is – he does not have the popularity in the area that Farjana Bubli has.”
We hope that the Awami League high command will nominate her in the upcoming 12th National Parliament election, added the local AL leader.
Mahmud Hasan Suja, Joint Secretary of Phulchari upazila Awami League, said, “She (Farjana Bubli) is a proven leader in grassroots politics of Awami League in Gaibandha-5 Constituency.
Her father, former Deputy Speaker Advocate Fazle Rabbi Miah, was a 7-time MP for Phulchari-Saghata. Most of the development works of Phulchari and Saghata upazilas were accomplished by him.
During the lifetime of Fazle Rabbi Miah, AL activists of this area were active centering Farjana Rabbi Bubli. She was also trained in Awami League politics by his father.
Currently, she is known as a devoted fighter of the party. Common voters and his supporters are optimistic that the Awami League high command will nominate her in the upcoming 12th National Parliament election.”
Farjana Rabbi Bubli, General Secretary of Fulchari upazila Awami Leauge, said, “I have stood by the people of this area in their weal and woe since my school life.
In this long political period, I have not been involved in extortion, tender, illegal activities anywhere.
I believe in the ideology of Bangabandhu. I have been giving my efforts for all the developmental works and overall development of Phulchari and Saghata upazilas. I think Awami League President and our leader Sheikh Hasina will nominate me as a candidate of boat symbol in the next parliamentary election.”
