Dashing opener Tamim Iqbal came at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium (SBNCS) in the city’s Mirpur on Sunday. Earlier, the 34-year-old left-hand opener announced his retirement from international cricket and also stepped down from Captaincy of Bangladesh ODI Cricket team. After that, he called on Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and discuss with her. Later, he retuned to the cricket again. Suddenly he announced that he would step down from the captaincy of Bangladesh One Day International (ODI) Cricket team. He also announced that he would participate in the cricket competitions as a general member of Bangladesh National Cricket team. Tamim Iqbal has been suffering from back pain for five to six months. The southpaw will not take part in the upcoming Asia Cup Cricket due to injury. He went to London, the capital city of England recently to take medication there. He avoided to undergo surgery. Then, he took injections there for his back pain. He came to the capital from London after taking medication and then he finally announced to quit his captaincy.
He will take rest at least one weak. After that, he will start his rehabilitation process and will try to gain his fitness. If everything goes well he will return to cricket after the Asia Cup Cricket by taking part in the New Zealand series. Then, he will compete in the ICC World Cup scheduled to be held from October 5.
Tamim Iqbal talked to the Chief Physician of the BCB Dr Debashish Chowdhury yesterday at the ‘Home of Cricket’ and consulted with him about his physical condition. He also discussed with him about his next programmes.
After that, he went to the department of the BCB Cricket Operations Committee office. There he discussed with the officials of Cricket Operations Committee of the BCB.
It may be mentioned that after resignation of Tamim Iqbal, the BCB has not yet the announced the Captain of Bangladesh ODI Cricket team and also the Skipper of Bangladesh ODI Cricket team for the forthcoming ICC World Cup.
The newsmen and the cricket lovers of the country expect that the Bangladesh Cricket Board will announce soon the name of the Captain of Bangladesh ODI Cricket team for Asia Cup Cricket and also the Captain of the ICC World Cup.
