BNP leader Salahuddin, 6 others held

The detective branch (DB) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has arrested seven people including Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP)’s Commercial Affairs Secretary Salahuddin Ahmed.They were arrested from Jatrabari area of the capital on Thursday afternoon.
During the arrest, Salahuddin Ahmed was accompanied by five other BNP leaders along with his car driver. All of them were taken by DB.
The arrested have been identified as the member secretary of Ward number 62 BNP Shaheen Ahmed, former joint convenor of Ward number 62 BNP Shah Alam Munshi, member of convening committee of Ward number 62 BNP Abir Hossain, member of the convening committee of Ward No. 62 BNP Niamul Haque, former member of the convening committee of Ward No. 48 BNP Nayan and Salahuddin’s driver. Kajal Miah.
Detective Branch (DB) Chief Harun-or-Rashid confirmed the matter on Thursday evening and said that the BNP leader as well as others was arrested in cases filed over the clashes during Saturday’s sit-in programme in Jatrabari.
The DB chief also said that the BNP leader Salahuddin is also accused in two other cases filed over the incident.
Earlier, Salahuddin’s son Tanvir Ahmed Robin alleged that the law enforcers picked Salahuddin up while he was returning home after receiving anticipatory bail from a court this afternoon.
Tanvir, also acting member secretary of Dhaka city south unit of BNP, said his father secured anticipatory bail in several cases filed by police over clashes during Saturday’s sit-in programme in Jatrabari area.
He also said seven people, including his father and his driver, were picked up.
