Jamaat announces Dhaka rally on Friday

Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami has postponed its scheduled programme after failing to get permission to hold the rally in the capital on Tuesday.

The party, however, will hold a peaceful rally in Dhaka on Friday (Aug 4).

Nurul Islam Bulbul, Ameer of Jamaat’s Dhaka city south unit, made the announcement at a press conference in this regard on Tuesday.

Earlier, Jamaat-e-Islami announced to hold the rally to press home their demands for the restoration of a caretaker government, release of Jamaat amir Shafiqur Rahman and other leaders and workers, alems and ulemas, and rein in the price hike of essential commodities.

Regarding the next rally, Jamaat-e- Islami Bangladesh representative and lawyer Abdur Razzak said, we have completed all preparations to hold a rally at Suhrawardy Udyan on August 4.

We have also been assured by the police that permission for the rally will be considered subject to discussions with higher authorities.

He said these after a meeting with Dhaka Metropolitan Police Commissioner (DMP) Khandkar Golam Faroq on Tuesday (August 1) afternoon.
