DMP demolishes illegal parking in Babubazar
The Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC), the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Lalbagh Traffic Division jointly has cleared illegal establishments and parking in the Badamtali area on Tuesday.
Confirming the matter to the New Nation, Additional Police Commissioner of DMP Traffic Division Anisur Rahman said, ” We inspected the traffic zone and found a chaotic situation with trucks, covered vans, pickups, parking and loading and unloading in various blocks under the Babubazar Bridge, including rice hotels, various shops, transport agencies and rickshaw van repair factories recently.”
“Such situation disrupts traffic movement, causing immense sufferings for the commuters.”
Additional Police Commissioner (Traffic) informed the DSCC Administrator Abdus Salam, on his mobile phone.
Later, taking this matter of public importance into consideration, the City Corporation Administrator assured to cancel the lease given under the Babubazar Bridge.
DSCC Chief Property Officer Md. Rezaul Karim suspended the activities of collecting parking lease/khas of the lessees employed in these places.
In view of this, the parking of the blocks under the Babubazar Bridge was released under the leadership of Lalbagh Division Deputy Police Commissioner Mohammad Mofizul Islam.
At that time, the traffic police operation was also conducted by Lalbagh Traffic Division Additional Deputy Police Commissioner Esanul Kamran Tanvir, Kotwali Traffic Zone Assistant Police Commissioner A.K.M. Manjurul Alam and other officers and forces.
Local people and businessmen expressed relief in this operation of the traffic police.
The matter was known to the general public in this area as a commendable initiative of the traffic police.
