122 BNP men landed in jail

The Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Court of Dhaka yesterday sent 122 leaders and activists of BNP to the jail and another 25 were placed on one-day remand each in 11 cases filed over July 29 clashes with law enforcers across the capital.

The 11 cases were filed with seven police stations in the capital over clashes with police, torching buses, vandalizing and hurling crude bombs. Different police stations produced a total of 137 BNP men in the court in the cases.

The court sent BNP Dhaka Division Organizing Secretary Abdus Salam Azad to the jail and placed four others on one-day remand each in a case lodged with Sutrapur Police Station.

It sent 33 to jail in three cases filed with Uttara West Police Station, 52 under a case filed with Darus Salam Police Station, two in case with Kadamtali Police Station, two in a case with Shyampur Police Station and five in a case with Bongshal Police Station.

Sixteen were placed on one-day remand and two sent to the jail in a case filed with Jatrabari Police Station. Police also produced 22 under two cases filed with Uttara East Police Station.

Of those, eight were placed on one-day remand each and 14 were sent back to the jail to be interrogated at the jail gate.
