The political programmes called by two major political parties – Awami League and Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) – at two separate venues in the heart of the capital have created anxiety among the SSC candidates whose results will be published today.
As per the previous notice of the Dhaka Board, the results will be published at 10:30 am on Friday at the respective educational institutions and online simultaneously.
The results are going to be published in such a day when the political parties started their gathering at their respective venues – Awami League at South Gate of Baitul Mokkarram and BNP at Naya Paltan- since Thursday.
As the inhabitants of Dhaka city have witnessed the recent political confrontation between the two parties, the SSC candidates and their guardians are anxious to go outside the residences to collect the results from their respective institutions – many of these are located near the venues of the political programmes.
The students said that generally it creates an environment of cheerfulness when the SSC results are published , but this time it may not happen because they fear going to their respective institutions when political programmes will take place.
The guardians said that most of the buses stopped plying the city streets whenever any political programmes are held. This time the number of buses has already reduced ahead of their programmes.
The Board sources said that the results are not generally published on a holiday and it is the first time the government is going to publish it on Friday, with the intention that the students will pass more cheerful times, but it may not happen now.
Shamsunnahar, mother of Moumita, an SSC candidate of Viqarunnisa Noon School and College, said she has not been going outside due to the ongoing political programmes. “The roads are almost empty due to the political programmes. How can I send my daughter to collect results from her school,” she said.
Tanvirul Islam, a student of Ideal School, said that his father has told him not to go to his school amid these political programmes.
Keka Roy Chowdhury, a teacher of Viqarunnisa Noon School and College, told the media, “The SSC result is a crucial chapter in a student’s life. If a student achieves good results, they desire to celebrate and share their joy with friends and classmates. It’s not just the students; parents also take an active part in this celebration.”
“However, due to the political programme, many parents might be worried about their child’s safety and hesitate to allow them to go out. Nevertheless, we have taken all necessary precautions from our end,” she said.
Chairman of Dhaka Board and convener of Inter-Education Board Coordination Committee Tapan Kumer Sarkar told the media, “They have all preparation to publish the result. After the result publication, students rejoice with happiness and enthusiasm, as we witness every year. However, this time, due to the political turmoil, it may be hindered, and there is nothing we can do about it.”
This year, the SSC and equivalent examinations started on April 30th and concluded on May 28th.
