The elite force Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) arrested three members of Ameer of the newly formed militant outfit Jama’atul Ansar Fil Hindal Sharqiya including its Ameer Md Anisur Rahman alias Mahmud from Munshiganj’s Louhajang on Monday morning.
The two other arrestees have been identified as Kazi Saraz Uddin alias Siraz, 34 and Mahfuzur Rahman Bijoy alias Babul alias Jambuli, 28.
During the drive, the RAB team also recovered firearms, bomb-making huge explosives equipment, pamphlets, and cash from the alleged Jama’atul Ansar Fil Hindal Sharqiya operatives.
RAB’s Legal and Media wing Director Khandaker Al Moin confirmed the matter to the media in a press briefing at its Karwan Bazar media centre on Monday noon.
According to RAB officials, the Jama’atul Ansar Fil Hindal Sharqiya Ameer and some of his accomplices were holding meeting at a “hideout” in Munshiganj.
Acting on a tip-off, a RAB team of RAB 10 conducted a drive in Boronopara village in Louhajang upazila around 3 am and arrested the three men.
Khandaker Moin said, Anisur Rahman alias Mahmud sold his land with his house in Comilla’s Pratappur for Tk 50 lakh and gave some of the money to his militant organization.
With the remaining money, he bought three and a half bigha of land in Bandarban, settled there with his family and established a poultry, agriculture and cattle farm.
