BNP will swallow country if gets power: AL

Staff Reporter :
Awami League (AL) General Secretary Obaidul Quader on Sunday said the BNP will swallow the country if it gets the state power.

“BNP has become impatient for assuming the state power. If the party returns to power in any way, it will swallow the whole country,”

Obaidul Quader said this while addressing a ‘peace and development rally’ arranged by AL unit of Companiganj upazila in Noakhali.

The AL leader said 70 per cent people of the country are eagerly waiting to cast their votes to elect Sheikh Hasina again. But BNP Secretary General wants to give 10 seats to AL.

“The people of the country cannot support the corrupt ‘Khai Khai party’-the BNP, the AL General Secretary said. He said, “Earlier Noakhali was the base of BNP. We demolished this base without resorting to clash, violence or shooting.”

He accused of the BNP for its efforts to foil the general election by lodging complaints with the foreigners.

“Election will be held as per its rules. No election will be held in the country at the behest of anyone else,” he said.

Obaidul Quader said, caretaker government is a dead issue and there is no benefit of reviving it.

“Caretaker issue was dead as per the court’s directions. So it would not be revived anymore,” he said.

He gave assurance of holding the next general election in a free, fair and credible way.

The AL leader urged foreign countries to send observers during the next general election.

Noakhali District AL President Khairul Anam Chowdhury Selim chaired the rally while Companiganj AL President Abdul Quader Mirza and local leaders addressed it, among others.
