Two minor girls drown in Kishoreganj

Two minor girls drowned in a pond at Kamarkona village under Egarosindhur union in Pakundia upazila of Kishoreganj on Friday afternoon.

The deceased were identified as Tanvi (6), daughter of Mohammad Ali of Kamarkona village of the upazila and Alo Moni (5), daughter of Rubel Mia, of the same village.

According to local sources, the two girls were playing in front of their houses close to the pond around 2:40 pm. At one point, both of them fell into the pond and drowned.

As the two went missing, the family members carried out a lot of searching but could not trace the girls. When attention of the villagers was drawn to the pond, they found the children’s shoes on the bank of the pond.

Later, their bodies were recovered by searching the pond. The bodies were taken to the nearby Mathkhola sub-health center.

Egarosindur Union Parishad (UP) Chairman Nuruzzaman Babu confirmed the incident.
