5 held over illegal kidney trading

The elite force Rapid Action Battalion (RAB-1) has arrested five members of a kidney buying and selling gang, including its mastermind Anisur Rahman (29). They were arrested from different areas of the capital.
During initial interrogation, Mastermind Anisur told the RAB that more than 50 kidneys were sold through him in last four years.
RAB-1 said that on the basis of specific complaints and intelligence activities, five persons including Anisur were arrested by conducting raids in Bhatara, Badda, Banani and Mohakhali areas of the capital. Copies of affidavit of commitment and the agreement made with the patients have been recovered from them.
Others arrested are – Md. Ariful Islam alias Rajib (33), Salauddin Tuhin (27), Enamul Hussain Parvez (donor) and Saiful Islam.
RAB-1 Captain (CO) Lt. Colonel Mostak Ahmed told it in a press conference organized at RAB Media Center in the capital’s Karwan Bazar on Thursday noon.
He said that some cartels are active with illegal transplantation of various organs of the human body including kidneys through fraudulence . Many helpless low-income people are becoming victims by being lured into the trap of these groups.
In this operation of illegal, sensitive and illegal transplant, the members of the circle are involved in inhumane activities for the greed of money.
Recently, the RAB Cyber Monitoring Cell had been monitoring the activities of syndicates illegally selling kidneys and other human organs through social media. Members of these syndicates attract customers and donors through online and offline campaigns.
