India Women beat BD Women in 2nd ODI to level series

India Women’s Cricket team beat Bangladesh Women’s Cricket team by 108 runs in their second One Day International (ODI) match to level the series 1-1 at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in the city’s Mirpur on Wednesday.
Earlier, Bangladesh Women defeated India Women by 40 runs (according to the Duckworth-Lewis-Stern Method) in the first ODI at the same venue on July 18.
Sent into bat first, India piled up a fighting total of 228 for the loss of eight wickets in the stipulated 50 overs.
In return, Bangladesh scored 120 off 35.1 overs.
Bangladesh lost their early three wickets for 38 runs.
One-down Fargana Haque and third-down Ritu Moni fought back contributing together 68 runs for the fourth wicket partnership before Fargana Haque was stumped out by wicketkeeper Yastika Bhatia off Devika Vaidya when Bangladesh’s score was 106 for the loss of four wickets.
Fargana Haque hit a sparkle 47. Her 81-ball innings was laced with five fours.
After Fargana’s dismissal, Ritu Moni could not stay at the crease for a long period as she was stumped out by wicketkeeper Yastika Bhatia off Jemimah Rodrigues when the hosts’ total was 106 for the loss of five wickets.
Ritu Moni scored 27 from 46 deliveries with three fours.
After Ritu Moni’s departure, Bangladesh batters failed to build any notable partnership.
Devika Vaidya grabbed three wickets giving 30 runs.
Deepti Sharma, Sneh Rana and Meghna Singh took one wicket apiece.
Jemimah Rodrigues was her team’s most successful batter. She cracked a terrific 86. She hit nine fours in her 78-ball innings before she was caught behind by wicketkeeper Nigar Sultana off Nahida Akter when India’s total was 224 for the loss of five wickets. Later, Rodrigues captured four wickets at the cost of three runs. She was adjudged the Player of the Match for her all-round performance.
Harmanpreet Kaur hit a captain’s knock of 52. Her 88-ball innings had three fours.
Opener Smriti Mandhana notched up a polished 36. She hit four fours in her 58-ball knock before she was bowled out by Rabeya Khan.
Fourth-down Harleen Deol scored 25 from 36 deliveries before she was caught behind by wicketkeeper Nigar Sultana off Nahida Akter.
Besides, Yastika Bhatia added 15 runs to the India total.
Nahida Akter and Sultana Khatun bagged a pair of wickets each instead of 37 and 41 runs respectively.
Rabeya Khan and Marufa Akter picked up one wicket each for 44 and 49 runs respectively.
