No accountability to rein in market
By nature, businesspersons will always look for the highest profit. But there need to be certain checks and balances to monitor these profit margins. We have to make sure these profits are making the consumers hostage or denying their basic human rights. Especially the daily necessities need to be strictly monitored to ensure general people do not fell victim of starving, malnutrition or even get ill due to consuming low-quality foods, drinks etc.
Though it is true that global instability is making the local market suffer but there should be some accountability for the sake of common people and stopping the greedy profiteers from taking advantage in the name of global instability. These accountability checks are not only the government’s responsibility though they are the primary duty bearers to do so, but there should be some social responsibility also.
People from the community should raise voice and demand for justification for these unmonitored pricings where companies are increasing their price willy-nilly. If the people do not do that, the government will not hold these companies accountable for their wrongdoings. Often these companies lobby the government or bribe politicians for their benefits; even in worse case scenarios some politicians own those selfish companies. These issues create another stratum of problems which will only be solved with an independent government cell which is free from the influence of others. And such cells will only be established when we the people demand it.

How clean Bangladesh is?
This question is on everyone’s mind, particularly people who want to see a much greener Bangladesh. Empty packets, cigarette butts, cans and bottles are seen on the roads; this has become a common scenario. The government can take an initiative for effective recycling and place more bins along the roads and footpaths from where the bin truck would collect the wastes and take it for recycling.
During Eid ul-Azha, we sacrifice animals and there is a lot of waste which should not be heaped on the road sides. It might be a good idea if there is a slaughterhouse in every area so that animals could be sacrificed there and the wastes would not be strewn all over the area, which makes it difficult for cleaning. There are slaughterhouses in many countries, including Saudi Arabia. Our government should open slaughterhouses to make things convenient for people and to keep our country clean.
