Danish envoy’s farewell call on Nasrul Hamid

Danish Ambassador to Bangladesh Winnie Estrup Peterson today made a farewell call on State Minister for Power, Energy and Mineral Resources Nasrul Hamid at his secretariat office.
During the meeting, they discussed various issues relating to mutual interests, reports BSS.

The ambassador said that Danish companies are very interested in cooperating Bangladesh’s blue-economy. She expressed interest in producing 500 MW of electricity from offshore wind.
Thanking the Ambassador for her interest in Bangladesh, Nasrul Hamid said that the present government has given special importance to renewable energy.

He said, Bangladesh is now generating a total of 1194 MW electricity from renewable sources, out of of which 825.23 MW is being added to national grid.
The state minister said process of generating 9930 MW power remains in pipeline. Out of the electricity, he said, 1262 MW power will come from 30 renewable projects while 8668 MW will come from other sources.
