2 dwelling houses gutted in Fakirhat

2 dwelling houses belonging to Ranjit Mandol, a poor day labourer and Monimohan Mandol of village Goalkhali under Fakirhat Upazila in Bagerhat district were gutted when they (houses) caught fire at the night of Monday, according to a delayed report received here.
The eye-witnesses and the locals informed that at the night the fire originate from an electricity short circuit taken place in the dwelling house of Ranjit Mondal, went out of control within moments and spread to the adjacent dwelling house of Monimohan Mondal. On seeing the flame of fire the neighbouring people rushed to the spot and brought the fire under control after a long fighting for 3 hours with spraying the water carrying from the advent ponds and canals on the fire. But in spite of that both the dwelling houses along with their all belongings were completely burnt to ashes. At that time all the inmates were absent from the house of Monimohan Mondal. The loss of fire is ascertained at Tk.13 lakh after a primary assessment.
Alladey Mondal, local Woman UP Member visited the place of occurrence and told, the area is very inaccessible. So, no fire service unit could reach the spot to extinguish the fire. The fire affected poor Ranjit Mandol and his family are now residing in others’ houses.
