LPG price dropped by Tk 6.27 per kg

The price of Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) has been further slashed by Tk 6.27 per kg to Tk 83.21 for the month of July from the previous price of Tk 89.48 in June.
For the month of May, the price of LPG was Tk 102.9 per kg, which means the price dropped by Tk 19.69 in two months.
Bangladesh Energy Regulatory Commission (BERC) announced the new price in a press release, noting that a 12kg LPG cylinder’s price has been reduced by Tk 75.
A retail consumer will get it now at Tk 999 instead of Tk 1,074 (including VAT).
The new prices became effective from 6pm yesterday (3 July).

Bangladeshi LPG operators normally import their products from the Middle-East market on the basis of Saudi CP.
As per the BERC decision, the price of “autogas” (LPG used for motor vehicles) also dropped to Tk 46.59 (including VAT) per litre from the previous Tk 50.09, down by Tk 3.5 per litre.
Meanwhile, the prices of five and a half kg, 12, 15, 16, 18, 20, 25, 30, 35 and 45 kg cylinders have come down as well.
Accordingly, the price of 12 and a half kg cylinder has been set at Tk 1,400, 15 kg cylinder at Tk 1,248, 16 kg cylinder at Tk 1,331, 18 kg cylinder at Tk 1,498, 20 kg cylinder at Tk 1,664, 22 kg cylinder at Tk 1831 and the price of 25 kg cylinder is fixed at Tk 2,080.

Apart from LPG, the price of autogas used in cars has also come down. The price of autogas per litre has been fixed at Tk 46.59.
On June 1, there was a significant reduction in the price of LPG (liquefied petroleum gas). The price of per kg decreased by Tk 13.42, bringing it down to Tk 89.48 from the previous price of Tk 102.9.

Additionally, BERC had made an adjustment to the retail price of LPG, reducing it from Tk 1,235 to Tk 1,074 per 12kg cylinder.
Before that, the price of every 12 kg cylinder was increased by Tk 57 from Tk 1,178 to Tk 1,235 in May.
In April, BERC had reduced the price of a 12 kg LPG cylinder from Tk 1,422 to Tk 1,178 by Tk 244.
In March, BERC had reduced the price of a 12 kg LPG cylinder from Tk 1,498 to Tk 1,422 by Tk 76.
In February, LPG 12 kg cylinder gas price was increased from Tk 1,232 to Tk 1,498.
BERC sets the price of private companies’ bottled LPG in line with Saudi Arabia’s Aramco’s contract prices of propane and butane, the main ingredients of LPG.
Bangladesh’s annual LPG consumption is about 1.42 million tons, with households accounting for about 84 per cent of the consumption. Around 99 per cent of the market is dominated by 29 private companies.
