From ‘Priyotoma’ to ‘Surongo,’ how are Eid movies going?

Five Eid movies are being screened
in 169 theatres across the country from
last Thursday (Eid day). Even if so many movies are released together, the
audience’s interest in this movie is
giving a glimpse of the good days of Bengali cinema. This Eid, apart from
single screen, all the movies are being
seen in multiplexes. Let’s know how the movie is going, till the fourth day of Eid.
Shakib Khan starrer movie ‘Priyotoma,’ directed by Himel Ashraf, and Afran Nisho starrer movie ‘Surongo,’ directed by Raihan Rafi, are in high demand this Eid. The
frenzy of the audience is being observed with both the movies. However, like ‘Priyotoma’ and ‘Surongo’, ‘Prohelika’, directed by Chayanika Chowdhury, and ‘Casino’, directed by Saikat Nasir, are in the discussion. The audience is appreciating seeing these two movies, with everything going housefull. Even the movie ‘Lal Saree’ produced by actress Apu Biswas
has shown a lot of interest from the
general audience.
‘Priyotoma’ and ‘Surongo’ are single screens from Cineplex – there is a rush for tickets everywhere. Instant show tickets are not available. In many theatres tickets are being sold at three times the price of black.
Star Cineplex has released four movies on the occasion of Eid. According to the report, Afran Nisho’s ‘Surongo’ and Shakib Khan’s ‘Priyotoma’ are fighting with each other. Every show of two movies is going to Housefull. However, ‘Surongo’ is
going ahead with maximum 33 shows
in 7 branches of Star Cineplex.
Senior Marketing Manager of Star Cineplex Mezbah Uddin Ahmed told this correspondent that all the movies are going quite well. However, they will be able
to tell the whole picture when the
Eid week is over.
Jamuna Blockbuster Cinemas released five movies this Eid. So far Raihan Rafi directed ‘Surongo’ and Himel Ashraf directed ‘Priyotoma’ are doing well here. But Chayanika Chowdhury directed ‘Prohelika’, Saikat Nasir directed movie ‘Casino’ and Apu Biswas produced her first movie ‘Lal Saree’ are all doing well.
Assistant Marketing Manager of Jamuna Blockbuster Cinemas Mahabubur Rahman told this correspondent, “All Eid movies are playing here. Every movie is going pretty well. However, ‘Surongo’ and ‘Priyotoma’ are doing well. That doesn’t mean the rest are going bad.”
Also, all Eid movies have been released at Lion Cinemas Cineplex in Keraniganj. There are four shows of ‘Surongo’ and ‘Priyotoma’ movies every day. However, the authorities said that the audience
is going houseful in every movie.
In Dhaka, Shyamoli Cinema is running ‘Surongo’ movie since Eid. The House Manager of the cinema hall told this
correspondent, “There are four shows going on here every day, almost every show is going to house full. Many people are going back without getting tickets. So we are selling tickets in advance one week from now.” Himel Ashraf’s ‘Priyotoma’
is playing in Madhumita Cinema Hall, the capital’s traditional cinema. The audience is eager to watch the movie here since the day of Eid. No tickets are available
in black also. Many visitors have to return without getting tickets.
Not only in the capital, but outside the capital, the Cineplexes of the district and upazila cities are showing the movies ‘Priyotoma’ and ‘Surongo’ in single screens.
Meanwhile, Grand Sylhet Movie Theatre is playing the movie ‘Surongo’. Hall authorities said every show is going
to be housefull.
Meanwhile, ‘Priyotoma’ is playing at Madhuban Cineplex in Bogura. Assistant Manager of the hall Ajit Das told this correspondent, “Our every show is going houseful, people are coming from different districts around. We are getting more response than expected.”
Also, Eid movies are doing well across the country, including Jashore’s Monihar, Khulna’s Chitrali, Mymensingh’s Chhayabani, Rangpur’s Shapla Talkies, Barishal’s Obhiruchi, Pabna’s Rupkotha, Bhairab’s Dorshon cinema halls.
It is noted that Shakib Khan’s
‘Priyotoma’ directed by Himel Ashraf has been released in a record number of 107 theatres this Eid. Around 450 shows of ‘Priyotoma’ are running every day all over Bangladesh. ‘Priyotoma’ is produced by Arshad Adnan. Besides Shakib Khan, the movie also stars Kolkata’s Idhika Paul, Kazi Hayat, Shahiduzzaman Selim,
Elina Shammi, Don, among others.
On the other hand, Raihan Rafi directed movie ‘Surongo’ is running in 28 theatres. Tama Mirza acted opposite Afran Nisho
in this movie.
