Food system to improve for nutrition, health

A round table meeting was held in Rangpur to improve the nutrition and health of the residents of the city. Rangpur City Corporation (RCC) Mayor Alhaj Md. Mostafizar Rahman Mostafa was the chief guest at the round table meeting organized by Syngenta Foundation’s Nutrition in City Ecosystems (NICE) Project at Rangpur City Corporation (RCC) Hall on Monday.
Communication Specialist Jasia Mehzabin Haque was the special guest in the meeting. Secretary of Mst. Umme Fatima, Rangpur District Additional Animal Resources Officer Dr. Md Jobaidul Kabir and Assistant Director of National Consumer Directorate Rangpur Md Borhan Uddin were present there . Project Manager Md. Mushfiqul Alam Talukdar announced the auspicious opening of the meeting by discussing the food system and NICE Project. Md. Mahbubul Alam, Field Coordinator of Syngenta Foundation for Sustainable Agriculture Bangladesh spoke as the keynote speaker. At that time, the chief guest of the event, Mayor Mustafa said that he has visited Seoul, the capital of South Korea and saw the smart city plan. RCC is the second largest city in Bangladesh.
The NICE Project is working on food security and safe food to improve the nutrition and health of the residents. He expressed hope that NICE will support all activities of the project.
The speakers presented the issues related to the city’s food system and discussed various topics related to food and nutrition in the meeting. Through NICE Project, we have to complete various works through short and long term planning, NICE is doing awareness work like renovation of Dhap City Market, World Safe Food Day. RCC will be involved in all aspects of the NICE project.
